Description

Harrie Grondijs: Steinitz with Zukertort. Written and Compiled by Harrie Grondijs. No. 46 of 75 printed copies.

In English. Algebraic Notation.
This book was written and composed with the help of many newspaper columns of the last quarter of the nineteenth century, somewhat obscure sources which not have been consulted (let alone reprinted) by chess historians until now.

Steinitz with Zukertort is composed of two pieces. The first piece is an annotated account written by Steinitz about the allleged score of an offhand game that he lost to Walter Grimshaw. The second piece reconstructs the tour of Northern America that Zukertort undertook in 1884, which also happened to be the first full year of Steinitz in the USA.

17.5 x 25.5 cm. 253 pages bound in publisher's maroon linen with black print on front cover and spine. Harrie Grondijs, Rijswijk, 2006. Condition as new. .
