The collection contains the solo parts for the instrumentalists: piano part (16 pp.; with a lovely chess design on the cover!), harmonium (8 pp.), first and second violins (8 and 4 pp.), obbligato violin (6 pp.), cello (6 pp.), bass (4 pp.), flute (4 pp.), oboe (4 pp.), first B-flat clarinet (4 pp.), first E-flat alto saxophone (4 pp.), second B-flat tenor saxophone (4 pp.), third E-flat alto saxophone (3 pp.), first and second B-flat trumpets (4 pp.), third trombone (4 pp.), percussion (6 pp.). All the sheet music bears the stamp of a previous owner and, in some cases, an additional coloured mark. Otherwise, they are free of any markings. The cover of the piano part is loose. Overall, the collection is in very good condition for its age!
Enclosed is the booklet ‘Theater des Volkes. Städtisches Theater am Albertplatz, Dresden 1938/39’. 20 unpaginated pp., stapled. The booklet contains Walter W. Goetze’s account of how his operetta came about (‘Wie “Schach dem König” entstand!’, with illustrations of the costumes and set design).
