Description

Casopis ceskoslovenskych sachistu 1921. Praha, Fr. Dedrle, V. Kautsky, L. Prokes. Monthly. In Czech. Title page, index, 172 pages. Issues 1-12 (6/7 and 8/9 are double issues). Volume 15. Covers not bound. LN 5985. Soukup 5. Mokry 238. Di Felice 442.

Two unnumbered leaves printed on heavier paper, containing “Posledni zpravy” (Latest News) and other editorial content relating to several different issues from June to November, are bound in at the end of the volume. I have been unable to determine exactly how these leaves originated. They are almost certainly not original covers, as each leaf contains content relating to different issues on its two sides.

Casopis ceskych sachistu (The Magazine of Czech Chess Players) was founded in 1906 and remains the main Czech chess journal. Throughout its history, its title changed mainly for political reasons: Casopis ceskych sachistu (1906-1919), Casopis ceskoslovenskych sachistu (1920-1926), Ceskoslovensky sach (1927-1938; 1946-present), and Sach (1939-1945).

Condition - Good or better: Private half-cloth binding with a label on the front cover. A small tear (approx. 1.5 cm), not affecting the text, to the leaf with pages 149-150. Staples show minor rusting. Occasional light soiling. The paper of the last page is slightly browned.
