Sach 1945. Oficialni organ U. J. C. S. Praha. Monthly. In Czech. Editors: K. Zmatlik, J. Louma, L. Prokes, J. Genttner, J. Matys. Title page, index, 136 pages. Issues 1-10 (1/4 is a quadruple issue, 5/6, 7/8 and 9/10 are double issues). Volume 39 (7). Covers not issued, except with issue 5/6. LN 5985. Soukup 7. Mokry 240. Di Felice 2061.
The magazine states volume 7, but it was in fact a continuation of Ceskoslovensky sach, making it the 39th annual volume. The volume numbering was finally standardized only in 1946.
The 1945 volume was published with considerable delays. The first issue (or rather, the quadruple issue 1/4) did not appear until after the end of the war, on September 15, 1945, and comprised 48 pages (pp. 1–48). The publication of double issue 5/6 was postponed, with the intention of publishing it at the end of November. Pages 49–72 were provisionally reserved for this commemorative double issue, which was dedicated to the memory of the victims of World War II. Thus, the first quadruple issue was followed directly by double issue 7/8 (pp. 73–96), published on November 2, 1945. Double issue 9/10 (pp. 97–120) followed on December 18. Issues 11 and 12 were never published. Instead, the 16 pages originally planned for them were added to the commemorative double issue 5/6, which was finally published on July 31, 1946, as the last issue of the 1945 volume. It comprised 40 pages. Since only 24 pages had been reserved for it when double issue 7/8 was published, its pages were numbered 49–72 and 121–136. This created a problem when the volume was subsequently bound. If the issues were arranged so that the text followed in the correct sequence, which is the more logical arrangement, the pagination was interrupted, with pages 121–136 bound between pages 72 and 73. Alternatively, if the pages were bound in numerical order (1–136), the text did not follow continuously, as the continuation of the text on page 72 appeared on page 121.
Ceskoslovensky sach is the main Czech chess magazine published continuously since 1906. The title changed over time mainly for political reasons: Casopis ceskych sachistu (1906–1919), Casopis ceskoslovenskych sachistu (1920–1926), Ceskoslovensky sach (1927–1938 and 1946–present), and Sach (1939–1945).
