Description

Ellerström & Hall: Schackspelaren som blev författare, Frans G. Bengtsson (2007).

The Chess Player Who Became a Writer, Frans G. Bengtsson.

In his youth, Frans G. Bengtsson was one of southern Sweden’s most promising chess players. He harbored high hopes of pursuing the game as a profession: "For years, I devoted myself exclusively to chess - I played chess, read about chess, and dreamed of chess."

After a tournament in Copenhagen in 1916, which he regarded as a failure, he stopped playing competitively. However, he never lost his interest in the game. Over the years, he wrote a number of essays and articles on chess, only one of which was published in book form. The others - texts that have long been difficult to access - are published here for the first time.
