Description

Fizkultura i sport, Moskva, 1970, in Russian language, paperback, 184 pp +32 pp of nice photos in glossy paper, 280 grams, condition: fair, with very few and small pencil marks.

In 1970, a book containing annotations by the Petrosian’s and Spassky’s principal seconds (respectively GMs, Isaac Boleslavsky and Igor Bondarevsky), was published by Fizkultura i Sport. Top coach Mark Dvoretsky has said about this book that it is as one of the absolute masterpieces of Soviet chess literature.

All games are deeply analyzed by both coaches and are distinguished by different typographic fonts. Of particular value is the recording of the thinking times of the two players, move by move. It is noted that the first game of the match is analyzed in 17 pages, and the 17th game in 13 pages. This book has not been translated into English.

The 1969 World Chess Championship was played in Moscow from April 14 to June 17, 1969. This was the second consecutive time Petrosian and Spassky played for the world title. Spassky reversed the previous result; winning the world title and becoming the tenth World Chess Champion.
