A biographical work about Dawid Przepiórka (1880–1940), one of Poland’s leading chess masters and a prominent figure in Polish chess life between the world wars. He was also a gifted chess problem composer and an important contributor to the development of Polish chess.
The book combines Przepiórka’s personal story with a detailed account of his chess career, including his tournament games, his role in Warsaw’s chess community, and the wider world of Polish and European chess before the Second World War. It includes 53 annotated games and a collection of 160 of his chess problems with solutions, alongside numerous photographs and historical illustrations.
The biography also recounts the tragic end of his life: Przepiórka was murdered by the Nazis in 1940, after the German occupation of Poland. Paperback. 334 pages.
