Gezielte Mittelspielstrategie Targeted Middlegame Strategy
100 x Koningsindisch Lothar Nikolaiczuk
Thomas Beyer Verlags, Hollfeld, 1990, in German language, paperback, 198 pp, 330 grams, condition: very good.
This book is aimed at all fans of the frequently played King's Indian Defense who want to deepen their understanding of this difficult opening or become more familiar with the typical middlegame motifs that are encountered again and again. The author uses the tried and tested "learning by doing" method and does not, as is usually the case, impart concrete knowledge of variations. At the beginning of the book you will find 100 rich, typical middlegame positions of this opening in a diagram. Each example offers a snapshot of a game between the tenth and twentieth move. It is precisely in this phase that both sides are concerned with long-term planning of their further course of action. Therefore, the selected examples are primarily positional: of course, it is in the nature of things that tactical motifs always play a very important role in the King's Indian. The reader is "questioned" by the trainer for each of the 100 positions, meaning that they must make their own assessment and evaluation of the position. In the second part of the book, the reader can then replay the complete games from which the motifs come, including the comments and explanations, and deepen their understanding of the opening. This well-made textbook is suitable for all "King's Indians" or those who want to become one.
