chess composer Miroslav Havel: signed letter 1958
enclosed: signed letter by Nadezda Kostalova (Miroslav Havel’s wife)
Miroslav Havel (1881-1958)
and Nadezda Kostalova (Miroslav Havel’s wife)
two handwritten signed letters from 1958
to Slovak composer Bedrich Formanek
Size cca 20 x 17.
Good to very good: light signs of use, light traces after horizontal center fold.
The first letter (1 sheet 20x17 cm), written by Miroslav Havel, is dated 26 January 1958. It begins with Dear Mr. engineer and is addressed to Bedrich Formanek (although Formanek's name is not directly mentioned in the letter, it is obvious from the content). Havel sends one corrected problem for the chess column in paper Praca.
The second letter (1 double-sheet 20x17 cm), written by Nadezda Kostalova (=Havel’s wife, resp. widow), is dated 8 July 1958. It begins with Dear Mr. engineer and is also addressed to Bedrich Formanek (although Formanek's name is not directly mentioned in the letter, it is clear from the content). Mrs. Kostalova informs the addressee that her husband has died and asks him to pay the prize from the last problem tournament.
