This booklet appeared in a small edition in 1994. It consists of (fragments) of the correspondence between Dutch endgame composing experts John Selman, Theodorus Kok and Jan Marwitz that started in 1942. Their joined effort was devoted to the ideal and fully correct realization of an endgame idea in which white’s Knight and Bishop must overcome a black Knight.
At last, in 1947, the three of them found an ideal setting for a brilliant gem, shown on the next to last page of this booklet.
The epilogue is as epiphanic as it is truthful! Each of the two forked final mating variations had been anticipated at least as far back as 1928 and 1930 by the Russian composers Bron and the Sarychev brothers.
