Boris Vasilievich Spassky (January 30, 1937 – February 27, 2025) was the tenth World Chess Champion, holding the title from 1969 to 1972. Spassky played three world championship matches: he lost to Tigran Petrosian in 1966; defeated Petrosian in 1969 to become world champion; then lost to Bobby Fischer in the famous match of the century in 1972.

Krzysztof Pytel (15 May 1945 – 30 June 2019) was a Polish chess player who twice won the Polish Chess Championship (1972, 1973). He received the FIDE title on International Master (IM) in 1975. He was chess trainer and journalist, and author of many books on chess. Since 1989 he has played for France, where he lived until his death, and where he trained children and young people.
